Last updated: 25 July 2026
This Policy explains how vesselspecification.com handles personal information when you use the public site or contact us. The site is operated by the VesselSpecification project.
VesselSpecification is an experimental public vessel-reference project. A formal operating entity is intended to be added before paid services, API access, bulk data products, user accounts, or broader commercial launch.
Privacy and legal contact: contact@vesselspecification.com.
Summary
Public pages have no accounts or login and are intended to run without first-party cookies.
We may process limited data through logs, cookieless analytics, email, correction/takedown requests, and third-party services.
Information we process
We may process:
- technical data such as IP address, browser, device, URL, referrer, timestamp, and errors;
- page-view and usage analytics, if cookieless analytics are enabled;
- email or form content, including contact details, corrections, takedown details, and attachments;
- legal correspondence and rights notices;
- data exposed to third-party services when their assets, links, or photos load.
How we use information
We use this information to:
- operate, secure, debug, and improve vesselspecification.com;
- understand aggregate site usage;
- respond to corrections, contributions, legal notices, and support;
- protect the site, users, sources, rightsholders, and the public;
- comply with legal obligations and preserve records where needed.
We rely on legitimate interests to operate, secure, debug, improve, and understand use of the site; to receive corrections and source submissions; and to protect the site, sources, rightsholders, and the public. We may rely on legal obligation where we handle legal notices, rights requests, or regulatory matters.
Cookies and analytics
vesselspecification.com public pages are designed not to set first-party cookies.
If enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics reports aggregate page-view and performance data without first-party cookies. It is disabled unless a beacon token is configured at build time.
If future features require cookies, this Policy should be updated before launch.
Hosting, logs, and processors
vesselspecification.com may be hosted on Railway. Infrastructure providers may process logs and technical data needed to deliver and secure the site.
Processors and service providers may include:
- Railway, for hosting and server logs;
- Cloudflare, if analytics, DNS, CDN, security, or performance features are used;
- email or form providers, if source-document upload email is enabled;
- MarineTraffic, where third-party vessel photos are loaded.
These providers may process information in countries other than your own. VesselSpecification keeps this processing limited to what is needed to run the public site, route correspondence, and display enabled third-party assets.
Third-party links and photos
The site may link to class societies, registers, owner pages, document sources, commercial references, and other third-party websites.
If third-party photos or assets are enabled, your browser may contact that third party directly and expose technical data such as IP address, browser details, and page URL.
MarineTraffic photos, when shown, are requested directly from MarineTraffic-controlled hosts and are subject to MarineTraffic's own terms and privacy practices.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for operation, security, correspondence, legal compliance, and disputes.
Server and security logs are normally kept for up to 90 days. General email, corrections, and source submissions are normally kept for up to 24 months. Legal, rights, takedown, abuse, and dispute records may be kept for up to 6 years where needed.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or consent withdrawal.
